Washington DC and babies

This past weekend we made a trip out to DC to visit some of our Columbus friends, Christy and Reza, that moved there last year. Well, we haven't traveled enough in the last six months (ha ha ha) and Christy just had a baby, so we thought the time was right and headed out for the weekend. The drive to DC from Columbus isn't too bad, only 6 hours and we left at 6:30 am and made good time.
Well it was Friday night and we were in DC so so we said-"let's head downtown." Was it busy! and trying to find a parking space is totally crazy. We decided to eat at a Persian restaurant called Moby Dick, which had way tasty hummus, by the way. Anyway we are just waiting outside for our food and out of no where this family of French Canandians came up to us and starting cooing over our babies. Reza was holding little Hal in a sling and him being only 3 weeks and such a cutie, people couldn't resist. Then they would look over at us and see Jack and start up again. The best part was they were talking to the babies in super fast French and we had no idea what they were saying. I just looked over at Christy and we were both laughing. Then the next thing we knew the one lady pulled out some hand sanitizer and started squirting it on everyones hands. So I guess now it was all right to touch the babies. And she did.
I think it all happened in like 2 minutes, but it was a whirlwind of kids, ladies, and hand sanitizer all in French. Good thing Mark could interpret for us. It was awesome and we laughed about it longer then it took for the whole thing to happen. Good times. Here are the 2 cuties that are responsible:

Some of the embassies were open so we went and looked through a few. It wasn't quite as neat as we were hoping but we got some good kim chee at the Korean embassy and so good food and music in Iraq. Which made us go through a metal detector, I guess they aren't taking any chances. It was like the hottest day of the year (90 and way humid) so that didn't help either. We checked out Arlington cemetery and Iwo Jima. It was really cool and the cemetery was so quiet. We did want to see the changing of the guard but didn't have enough time.

Mark really wanted to go visit Bones at the Jeffersonian and I wanted to meet Booth, but we didn't have enough time for that either. Maybe next visit. We did find out that the Founding Father's is a real restaurant, but the Royal Diner is not. For those that don't watch Bones, well, you are just missing out and you can skip this part. Oops, too late.
We also couldn't miss walking around the temple grounds. We decided to check out the nature trail. It was serene and kinda sloped, and totally went no where. We walked, with the stroller on this crooked trail and then it dead ended. It was too much work to go back so we just treked up through the grass and came up this hill by the parking lot. I was breathing hard and sweating and just glad to make it. And there was this couple, that we had seen on our way out of the visitors center (that stopped us to talk to Jack), standing by their car as we come up out of the rough all hot and bothered. It was just funny. I don't know, maybe you had to be there.
DC is so fun and we were glad we had the chance to go visit. We will be moving soon, so we won't be as close so we are taking the chances when we get them.
